Legal Advice

Although you may be keen to get started and select a property, at Zest Properties we recommend that you consider the implications of anything going wrong with the construction or the purchase of your property. There are relatively few instances of such problems in the Republic of Cyprus, but should there be a problem, you would want to know that you had done everything possible to protect yourself. Would you perform the conveyancing for a property purchase at home? If not then we would recommend that you don’t think about doing so in a foreign country!

For this reason we recommend that you appoint a lawyer who is independent of the property developer, or the vendor of the property you are purchasing. This will ensure that the lawyer is acting solely on your behalf to ensure all legalities are properly conducted and the property is correctly registered in your name.

Should there be any claim, then the case will have to be conducted in a Cypriot court. However should you wish an extra level of protection, by engaging a specialist UK international property lawyer you would have the extra protection of being able to make any claim against the UK lawyer.

Although verbal agreements cannot be enforced in Cyprus we would still recommend that you do not make any agreement, or hand over any monies until you have consulted a lawyer.
